Sockeye Salute Song Contest Announced! |
|

Due to the phenomenal success of the “Song for the Shuswap” songwriting contest, the Adams River Salmon Society is sponsoring a “Song for the Salmon” competition with a grand prize of $500, two passes to the 2011 Roots and Blues festival and a hand sculpted glass trophy by Chuck St. John. The second place winner will receive $250. The winning song must be written for the contest, must include the words ‘Adams River’ and ‘Sockeye salmon,’ and be original lyrics and music. Songs will need to be submitted on a CD or in MP3 format on or before September 24th. Entry forms for the contest are available at People’s Drug Mart in Scotch Creek and Chase and at Long and McQuade in Kamloops. Forms are also available at the Society’s website, www.salmonsociety.com. For more information about the contest, phone 679-3693. The winning musicians will have an opportunity to play their songs at the Salute to the Sockeye opening ceremony on October 3rd and possibly at the North Shuswap Coffee House. There also may be an opportunities for the winning song to be played on local radio stations. |
