The gathered works by Doug Buis (Knutsford/ Kamloops), Rodney Graham (Vancouver), Kent Monkman (Toronto), Carol Sawyer (Vancouver) and Camille Turner (Toronto) share several attributes: they refer to history and historical narratives; they include historical figures, but also little known, dubious and fictional characters.

On Now in the Arnica Artist-Run Studio Space

In Progress: projected displacements... This summer, Tania Ursomarzo will be transforming the interior space of
Arnica Artist Run Centre in the Old Courthouse in Kamloops. In Progress: projected displacements… is one in a series of site-specific fibre and light installations exploring the built environment. Using a distinct architectural feature of the Vault and the only penetration into this fortified space – the door – a datum is established within the space of the Vault from which a woven installation is structured. By displacing the door through a mirrored, projected image of it, a re-invented datum is generated within the space. Moving between a new and existing datum with thread, a fluctuating horizon is created that cuts the space of the Vault horizontally, mediating its rigid geometry. The opening reception will be held Saturday, July 3 at 7:00pm. Artist
will be in attendance. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Please come!  The exhibition will continue during regular Arnica hours until August 7th.
